This land, a piece of paradise
Given by God's loving hand
Such wondrous beauty for my eyes
This special Cajun land
As the murky waters flow
On land's edge, bended cypress knees
Cattails in bloom, all in a row
Silent weeping do the willow trees
Up, into the moody skies
I see flocks of herons
In unity, they do fly
This multitude, they go as one
In the water, near the rich brown earth
Pools of shiners, soon arriving
Near the plants of wild green fern
With upturned tails, the wood duck diving
Of this world, no other place
Such majestic, unique beauty
Hoping that time will not erase
This Cajun Land, for all to see
