New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, August 18, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Charlene Viator Delaune, 76, who died Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow in the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
Mrs. Delaune was born in New Iberia on May 4, 1938 to Evern Sparkie and Claire Girouard Viator, and was a resident of Coteau. A graduate of Mount Carmel High School, her hobbies included dancing, gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting, reading, and solving crossword puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her family.
Survivors include her children, Donna Delaune Gautreaux and husband Craig of Coteau, Martin Marty Delaune, Jr. and wife Pam of New Iberia, Micki Delaune Besse and husband Dev of Rayne, Kathie Delaune Petkovsky and husband Darryl of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Annette Viator Clifford and husband Mark of Marietta, Georgia; brothers, Steve Viator of New Iberia, Rodney Viator and wife Connie of Round Rock, Texas, Carl Viator and wife Jeanne of New Iberia; 5 grandsons, Kyle Gautreaux of Denver, Colorado, Eric Delaune of Ford, Washington, Grant Besse of Lafayette, Luke Besse of Rayne, and John Michael Besse of Rayne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin J. Delaune, Sr., and a brother, Patrick Viator.
Pallbearers will be Grant Besse, Luke Besse, John Michael Besse, Kyle Gautreaux, Eric Delaune, Craig Gautreaux, Dev Besse, and Darryl Petkovsky.
