It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Edgar Duhon, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this life on November 17, 2025. Born on September 1, 1949, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Charles dedicated his life to serving his community and spreading love through his faith.
A cherished resident of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Charles was known as a warm-hearted soul, whose smile and infectious laughter could light up any room. As a minister at New Beginning, he devoted himself to sharing the word of God, welcoming all with open arms and never meeting a stranger. He firmly believed in the power of community, often found at local markets selling fresh vegetables and fish, sharing not just produce, but stories and conversations that connected him to others.
Outside the walls of his church, Charles had a passion for grilling with family and friends, often hosting gatherings filled with delicious food, laughter, and Saints football. His love for the game was only matched by his love for history, a subject he eagerly shared with anyone willing to listen, nurturing a spirit of curiosity and learning.
His radiant spirit and profound impact will be missed, but his legacy of love and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Duhon; sons, David Charles Duhon and Soloman Duhon; daughter, Melissa Duhon; brother, Joe (Ruby) Duhon; sisters, Velma Roy and Alma Norman; and his grandchildren, Daniel and Owen Wells
He is preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Edna Simon Duhon; son, Daniel Duhon; brothers, Percy, Stanley and Alkay Duhon; and his sisters, Virginia Thomas, Theresa Vallier, Mazie Thomas and Mildred Duvel.
Pallbearers will be Solom Duhon, Jeremy Wells, Chad Duhon, Coy Darby, Roland Porter Jr., and Omarion Thomas.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Traditions Hospice for the compassionate care and love given to him during his time of need. Also, special thanks to all of his caretakers that were a blessing to him during his illness and those who generously assisted in our financial needs.
