Charles Dupuis Jr. passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2023. The fifth of seven children born to Charles Dupuis Sr. and Rose Aimee Zeringue Dupuis, Charlie, as the family called him, was a wonderful, bigger than life, brother, husband and uncle to his many nieces and nephews and a good friend to many in the community. He and his wife Jessica ran a successful machine shop business, D&D Machines for many years. As an independent contractor, he fabricated parts for several large corporations and individuals alike. Charlie was also a pilot, flying both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, entertaining the neighbors with take offs and landing at his airstrip. He was also an avid hunter of deer, elk and fowl. He had a crawfish pond and became a trap fisherman, or at least a good supervisor, to his father-in-law, Jesse.
Charlie will be remembered by his family as humorous and witty. He never missed a beat and was always quick with a comeback. His siblings have lots of memories and stories of growing up with the Dupuis' in Grand Anse surrounded by family. Each of the Dupuis kids had their own personalities and Charlie's was indeed unique. He worked hard with Charles Sr. both in the 36-cow milking dairy and at carpentry building houses in summer. He was incredibly quick at solving problems and fixing things that no one else could.
Nieces and nephews are full of great stories of Uncle Nunu's adventures, jokes and stories. Nunu and wife Jessica adored their nieces and nephews, it always felt like a party when the kids arrived at Uncle Nunu's! He entertained them for hours with episodes of tickles, hide and seek, games, rides on four wheelers, you name it. He was a kid at heart.
As much patience and fun as he had for children, he had very little patience for foolish adults. He never forgot his conservative lessons from childhood and did not do well with those who were common sense deprived.
We miss you, brother. May you rest in peace.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica Taylor Dupuis; brothers, Johnny Dupuis (Barb) and Eric Dupuis (Hope); sisters, Adeline Lafleur, Flora Robert (Allen), Sheila Fleege (Niles), and Aimee Guidry (Shane); parents-in-law, Priscilla and Jessie Taylor; sisters-in-law, Cindy Angelle (Gary) and Jennifer Theriot (Kenneth); brother-in-law, Jeff Taylor (Cindy); 22 nieces and nephews; and 32 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Dupuis, Sr. and Rose Aimee Zeringue Dupuis.
Pallbearers will be Randy Guidry, Aaron Dupuis, Kyle Angelle, Kelsey Angelle, Shannon Elliot and Blaine Prideon.
