Charles Edgar Williams, Sr. was born on January 22, 1932, to the late Walter Ellis and Mattie Elizabeth Kleinpeter Williams. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, with assignments that took him to Germany and South Africa. His service not only defined his character but also instilled in him a deep sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life.
Mr. Williams’ educational journey was illustrious; he obtained his master’s degree and devoted 26 years in Iberia Parish to shaping young minds in his roles as both a teacher and a principal. The majority of his career was spent in Loreauville. His impact in the field of education will be remembered by countless students who were fortunate enough to benefit from his guidance and encouragement.
Charles was also known for his exceptional hobbies and interests. He had a particular fondness for building wooden boats, a craft that reflected his patience and skill. His love of the outdoors led him to enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening, and camping, where he often created lasting memories with family and friends. Additionally, he was a private pilot, taking to the skies with the joy of exploration and adventure.
Faith was a cornerstone of Charles' life, and he was actively involved in his church community at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. His commitment to faith inspired those around him and reflected the kindness and compassion he showed in all aspects of his life.
Mr. Williams is survived by his children, Laurette Pitman (Judge Lewis Pitman), Charles Williams, Jr. (Patrice), and Steven Williams (Fawn), all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Kay Pitman Clark (Brad), Michael Williams (Cameron), Lori Buteau (Seth), Spencer Williams, Kristen Lasseigne (Dylan), and Stevie Williams; and seven great-grandchildren.
