St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 22, 2024 at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Charles V. Russo, 81, who passed away on November 16, 2024 at Landmark Nursing Center.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Friday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral service. Readers will be Bethany Hidalgo, Mylie Hidalgo and Timothy Oubre.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Charles touched many lives through his involvement as an Usher at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, as a dedicated member of the Woodmen of the World and the Jaycees. Known for his ability to share stories and see the world through a unique perspective, his memories and wisdom will be deeply missed. A hard worker, Charles spent 20 years as a welder for Red Fox Industries and 22 years working with the Department of Transportation and Development.
His love for the land was evident in his passion for gardening and tending to cattle, bringing joy to those around him. Additionally, Charles generously shared his culinary skills by cooking gumbo and fried chicken dinners for the Jaycees. He was an integral part of the Louisiana Grand Boucherie for 21 years, where he and Peg slaughtered the pig.
He is survived by his spouse of 58 years, Cynthia Russo; son, Victor (Marie) Russo; daughters, Patricia Russo and Elizabeth (Shawn) Hidalgo; brother, Leonard (Janis) Russo; and his grandchildren, Taylor, Bethany, Mylie, Conner, Eli, Owen and Jaymson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Theresa Milazzo Russo.
Pallbearers will be Robert Batiste, Tim Amy, Victor Russo, Jaymson Russo, Taylor Russo, Shawn Hidalgo, and Timothy Oubre.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rufus Amy, Salvadore Milazzo, Eli Hidalgo, Owen Hidalgo, George Gauthier and Connor Hidalgo.
