Charlie Joseph Savoy, Sr.

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St Martinville, for Charlie J. Savoy, Sr., 76, who passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Iberia General Hospital & Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Augustinus Seran SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Reading the scriptures will be Cynthia Hypolite and Tammara Savoy. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Savoy enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He loved to cook at all their family gatherings. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucy Etienne Savoy of St. Martinville; his sons, Charlie (Rosaline) Savoy, Jr., David (Vanessa) Savoy all of St. Martinville, Christopher (Angela) Savoy of New Iberia, Dennis (Bridget) Savoy of Lafayette; his daughters, Celeste (George) Ellis of Lafayette, Melissa (Chris) Hodge of Zachary, Andrea Savoy of St. Martinville; his brothers, Whitney (Mary Joyce) Savoy ,Wilson (Willie Mae) Savoy, Willie Allen (Margaret) Savoy all of St. Martinville, Frederick Savoy of Baton Rouge, Jasper (Janice) Savoy, Samual (Pam) Savoy, Charles Savoy all of St Martinville; his sisters, Mary Joyce, Monitta (Alvin) Jones, Zelma (Leroy) Banks, Camille Savoy; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Samson Savoy and his mother, Edith Champ Savoy. Pallbearers will be Willie Batiste, Bryson Ellis, Denzel Savoy and Samson Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Alvin Jones and Nolan Mallery. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville, 112 New Market St., is in charge of arrangements.
