Chester was born on February 3, 1941, in St. Martinville, to his parents, Pascal "Paco" and Emelie Thibodeaux Guidry. Chester graduated with honors from Breaux Bridge High School in 1959, where he played trombone in the school band, served as secretary-treasurer of his graduating class, and remained actively involved in 4-H.

During his life, Chester served his country honorably in the United States Navy for four years as a Radioman-Class A and received the highest grade of "Outstanding" alongside the entire Operations Department. He then pursued a career in banking as a VP Loan Officer at Farmers and Merchants Bank for 30-plus years.

Chester was known to his family as "Dad" and "Poppee." He was a God-fearing man and loved his family enthuastically. He was an inspiring mentor to many - having been dedicated to hard work throughout his life - all while maintaining the importance of being there for those that mattered most. He was considerate towards others' feelings and needs and will be remembered for being community-minded. In addition to being a strong encourager, Chester was kind and caring. He loved to laugh and tease; he simply loved people.

His hobbies included camping, hunting, dancing with his angel (Dell), dinners with classmates and friends, and spending time outdoors. He loved his ice cream and adored his little dog, Lucy.

Chester will be remembered for his kindness above all. He was well-loved, and he loved well. Rest in peace Chester J. Guidry - a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great, great-grandfather - a mentor to many - and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Dena Cowan (Sean); stepchildren, Jason Venable (Chelsie) and Stephanie Primeaux (Michael); grandchildren, Da-rain Cowan Williams and Anicka Cowan; step-grandchildren, Brock Primeaux, Maci Primeaux, Jacob Venable, and Josie Venable; great-grandchildren, Athena Cowan, Nala Williams, Sylphrena Williams and Christine Primeaux; five step great-grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; brothers, Murphy Guidry and Alfred Guidry; and sisters, Renella Theriot and Geraldine Solis.
