Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Clorina Alexander, 88, who passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at St. Martin Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Peter Emusa will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Genevieve Smith and Krystal Boudreaux. Gift Bearers will be Ashley and Deandrea Barras. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Miss Alexander worked as a housekeeper at the St. Bernard Church Rectory for several years. She loved gardening, baking and cooking, especially Sunday dinners for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons, Alvin (Mary Lewis) Alexander of Henderson, Ernest (Shelia) Alexander of Houston, TX, and Melton (Margaret) Alexander of Cecilia; six daughters, Anna Jean Daigle of Houston, TX, Anna Belle (Geno Willis) Alexander of Lafayette, Joann Alexander of Breaux Bridge, Joyce Alexander of Lafayette, Alta Alexander, and Doris Alexander, both of Breaux Bridge; her brother, Dalfrey (Alvindale) Alexander of New Orleans; and her sister, Dorothy Ledet of Breaux Bridge; 34 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her son-in-law, Milton Abraham of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Veronica Alexander of St. Martinville; and brother-in-law, Joseph Lewis of Houston, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paulin and Alta Marie Davis Alexander; two daughters, Lou Bertha Abraham and Lucille Barras; her son-in-law, Paul Daigle; her brother, Elijah Alexander; three sisters, Rosalee Lewis, Beatrice (Amilca) Helaire, and Hilda (George) Clement; her brother-in-law, Alton Ledet; and her former husband, Alton Alexander.
Pallbearers will be Terence Jacoby Alexander, Kendrick Alexander, Nathaniel Devon Alexander, Christopher Alexander, Derrick Daigle, and Zachery Alexander.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shaun Alexander, Marcus Alexander, Melton Alexander, Jr., Donovan Alexander, Jordan Alexander, Damien Alexander, Reginald Lewis; Alvin Lewis, Derrick Weaver, and Ulysses Barras.
