Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Cloussy Joseph Soularie, Sr., 92, who passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at his residence.

Cloussy Joseph Soularie Sr. was born to Victor Soularie and Lorena Sylvester Soularie on September 16, 1933, in Breaux Bridge, La. He was the 5th born of their seven children. It was within the Soularie household where strong sibling bonds were built. The unbreakable bond that was forged from childhood was glaringly evident in how they cared for one another throughout their lives.
Cloussy firmly believed that God comes first and family immediately after. He modeled this time and time again as he unselfishly gave of himself when family called. The same unconditional love was poured into his wife of 37 years, Mary Soularie. A union that was truly blessed by God. No matter what challenge life threw at them, they held firm to God's promise and bravely faced it head on.
Growing up a country boy Cloussy's first employment was before the age of 11 as a laborer in the cotton and rice fields. As a result of that employment, he learned many lessons that prepared him for life. Those very lessons helped him to excel as a Railroad Foreman for Southern Pacific. A job that he held for 40 years before retiring.
Cloussy was a man of integrity and reliability. A man that could find the good in anyone. He was a world class domino player, but an even better friend. A man that this family will truly miss!
Cloussy is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lorena Soularie; his sister, Thelma S. Thibodeaux; his brothers, Wilbert Soularie Sr., Henry Soularie Sr., Wilfred Soularie, Evariste Soularie; and daughters, Linda Soularie and Barbara S. MaZeil.
Cloussy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Soularie; his sister, Clarisse Noel; daughters, Anna George, Jane Nero, Janet Matthews, and Elsie Jennings; his sons, Cloussy Soularie, II, Carlton Soularie (Renee) and Ronald Ceasar; and a host of grand and great-grandchildren.
We, the family of Cloussy Soularie, would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Felisha, Dr. Shuffler, Dr. Walker, and Lamm Family Care for the exceptional care provided during his illness. To our family and friends who have extended their condolences, love, and support during our time of bereavement. Your thoughtfulness has been greatly appreciated.
