Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Craig M. Champagne, 55, who passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

 

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm.

 

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert.

 

Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the funeral mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.

 

Craig honorably served and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He served in operations: Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Enduring Freedom. Craig earned the ranking of Master Sergeant; he was a true patriot for his country. After his military service, he went on to become a supervisor for U.S. Xpress in their mechanic shop, where he was currently employed.

 

Craig was an avid sports fan, he especially loved LSU, The Saints, Cardinals and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and entertaining his family and friends. Craig was a loving husband, father, son and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by wife of 33 years, Jacquelyn Lauffer Champagne; daughter, Jasmine Champagne; father, Steven Champagne (Deborah); mother, Barbara Theriot; sister, Michele Champagne Hebert; brothers, Steve Champagne, II (Brandy) and Kaine Champagne (Kelly); parents-in-law, John and Patricia Lauffer; sister-in-law, Jodi Acree (DeWayne); brother-in-law, Timothy Lauffer; godchildren, Logan Denee' Hebert, Jana Boudreaux and Kenedi Latiolais; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Steve J. and Velma Champagne; maternal grandparents, Euclide and Yula Theriot; paternal grandparents-in-law, Blair and Eva Lauffer; and maternal grandparents-in-law, John and Mary Lou Glenn.

 

Pallbearers will be Steve May, Darrin Hinderliter, Richie Bekolay, Duke Herman, Steve Champagne, II and Kaine Champagne.
