Cynthia Ann Francois Babin

Cecilia - A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Cynthia Ann Francois Babin, 71, who passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Brusly. Cynthia grew up in Morrow, Louisiana and graduated from Morrow High School. She attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and T.H. Harris Vocational School in Opelousas. Her career began at the well-known Stelly's Restaurant in LeBeau, Louisiana. Soon after, she became the morning radio personality for KSLO radio station in Opelousas. For the remainder of her career, she worked with various companies in the accounting department. Cynthia married the love of her life, Melvin "Red" Babin from Plaquemine, Louisiana, and they lived in the area until their retirement when they moved to Cecilia. Cynthia and Red were married for 50 years. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, sewing, and tailgating for the LSU Tiger football team. Cynthia loved working with the Special Olympics, where she assisted with fundraising and delighted in being the "hugger" at the end of each competition. Cynthia was liked by everyone she met. She had a welcoming, friendly, easy going spirit and people were instantly attracted to her. Her love was obvious in the care and concern she displayed for her family, friends, and others she barely knew. No matter what challenges she faced she always maintained a positive, upbeat attitude. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life; they brought her immeasurable joy and she cherished every moment she shared with them. Cynthia will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, compassion, and humor. She is survived by her husband, Melvin "Red" Babin; son, Brady Babin; daughter, Danielle Babin; siblings, Darrell Francois (Catherine), Carolyn "Sue" Carter (Dennis), Karen Russell (Kevin), John "Johnny" Francois and Lisa Leger; grandchildren, Alex Bourgoyne, Addie Bourgoyne, Auston Bourgoyne and Chloe Bourgeois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Leota Francois; and sister, Judy. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia, 2238 Bushville Hwy., Cecilia, LA 70521, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.

Tom and I were sorry to hear of Cynthia's passing but we know to be absent here is to be in the presence of the Lord. What a blessing. We went to school together at our beloved Morrow High School. What a close-knit loving little school that was back in the day. Her bubbly personality always made you smile and laugh. We ran into each other occasionally in Lafayette and enjoyed a quick visit and a few laughs about the good old days. She looked as beautiful as ever with that georgous skin just like her Mom's. I know you will miss her dearly but cherish each precious memory and keep that laughter going because it was such a part of who she was. RIP little sister friend of mine. We will meet in Heaven again one day. Blessings and Hugs to all her siblings and the rest of the family.

She helped my teacher with the class when I was in first grade at Morrow High School. I thought she was so beautiful and kind. Johnny was in the same grade. She is still beautiful....
