Daisy Borel Simar was born in Louisa, Louisiana on March 31, 1938, to the late Stanley and Nellie Pinell Borel. Her career as a paralegal showed her sharp mind and steadfast dedication, qualities that she balanced with her profound love for her family and community. She was deeply connected to the Lydia Pentecostal Church, a place where she found comfort, faith, and fellowship throughout her life.
Daisy enjoyed simple pleasures in life. Many will fondly remember her sitting in her gazebo, savoring a cup of coffee and sharing enchanting stories from her past. She had a gift for weaving tales that painted vivid pictures of bygone days. Her nimble fingers were almost always busy with crochet projects, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished for years to come.
Travel was one of her great loves; she cherished exploring both overseas destinations and local gems, broadening her world with each journey. She looked forward to indulging in boiled crabs – a favorite dish that always brought a smile to her face.
Perhaps most touching was Daisy’s love for her dog, Bentley, who was a loyal companion until his passing. Above all, Daisy’s heart belonged to her children and grandchildren. They were the shining lights of her life, inspiring her with their laughter and love. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Simar is survived by her children, Twyla Simar of Vivian, Dwanna Landrum (Dr. Clyde Landrum) of New Iberia, Vicky Lewis of Lydia, Kip Simar (Audra) of Sparta, TN, Jody Simar (Melissa) of Lydia, and Jeannine Byerly (Dr. Carl Byerly) of Clarkston, MI; siblings, Lulu Migues, Cheryl Borel, Anita Borel, Connie Borel, and Brent Borel; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and her best friend of over 50 years, Helen Labiche.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph David Simar; and sisters, Ferry Mae Hebert, Vivian Doty, and Audra Olander.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Lewis, Nathaniel Rathbun, Brent Borel, Roger Spears, Chris Simar and Scott McCarter.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Southern Grace Hospice, especially Chelsie and Christiana, for extraordinary care and compassion; Minister Brian Johnson; Dr. Falterman; and the Pentecostal Church of Lydia for endless help when needed.
Daisy leaves behind a world more colorful than she found it. She will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace.
