New Iberia – Arrangements are pending for Daniel J. Bodin, Sr., 94, who passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family.
Daniel John Bodin, Sr. was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on December 4, 1931, to the late Wesley Sr. and Germaine Guzzardo Bodin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where he served as a lay minister. In his younger days, Daniel did architectural drafting for others. He worked for United Gas for many years. He owned and operated Bodin’s Supermarket, then Bodin Foods, Inc. (the first USDA boudin approved plant) until his retirement. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman. He raised cattle his entire life; he loved riding out to the country to check on his herd. He was most at peace while fishing, duck hunting, and BBQing, but what he cherished most was time spent with his children, grandchildren and his cat, Daisy.
Mr. Bodin is survived by children, Sheryl Bodin Abney (Donald), Daniel Bodin, Jr. (Sandy), Debbie Comeaux (Russell), Patricia Fuselier; and Ray Renard (John); brothers, Merlin Bodin (Carol) and Larry Bodin (Jeanette); grandchildren, Jazmine Dore (Al), Beau Guillot (Christie), Jaclyn Lesley (Michael), Chenee Broussard (Tony), Chase Romero (Alexis), Davan Abney (Ashley), Nicole Theriot (Mark), Bliss Bonin (Dustin), Braiden Renard, Jared Renard, and Ryan Renard; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Agnes Migues Bodin; sons, Kenneth “Kenny Bo” Bodin and Michael Renard; daughter, Cyndi Bodin Romero; sister, Mary Ann Bodin Scalisi; and brother, Wesley “Jay” Bodin, Jr..
Pallbearers will be Al Dore, Jr., Tony Broussard, Jr., Beau Guillot, Davan Abney, Colton Broussard, and Collin Guillot.
Honorary pallbearers are Jazmine Dore, Chase Romero, Carroll Romero, and Daniel Bodin, Jr.
