Darrell Joseph Olivier

Darrell Joseph Olivier, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 1, 2025.

Visitation is scheduled at Pellerin Funeral Home, 314 Saint Landry St., Arnaudville, La., on Wednesday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. Funeral services to follow at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 232 Main St., Arnaudville, La., at 12 p.m. Darrell will be interred at the Saint Francis Regis Cemetery, across the street from the church.

Darrell was born on June 8, 1957, in Arnaudville, La. From a young age, he displayed a talent for fixing practically anything, from cars to clocks and motors to electronics. This gift paired well with a strong calling to serve others, a trait that would come to define his life as he consistently put his family, neighbors, and friends before himself.

Darrell met his loving wife of 47 years, Belinda (Quebedeaux), when they were freshmen in high school. They were soon inseparable, marrying in 1978 before moving to New Iberia, La., and finally settling in Port Allen, La. Darrell and Belinda's affection for one another was rooted in a love that was guided by devotion, was nurtured with humility and grace, and extended to everyone around them. Their bond, clear to anyone who ever saw them together, is one that transcends this life and rests in God's hands as a testament to the eternal nature of love.

A true servant of his loved ones, family is what brought Darrell the most joy in life. He and Belinda often remarked that their proudest achievements were their three boys, Nicholas, Stephen, and Jonathan, their daughters-in-law, their grandchildren, and the loving life they built together. This devotion to his family, and his family's dedication to him, continued to guide Darrell until the end of his days.

As he served his family, Darrell was also a humble servant of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother, Mary. He and Belinda served as eucharistic ministers at Holy Family Catholic Church, where they were long-time parishioners. Throughout his life, Darrell relied on his faith for direction, passing these values on to his sons. His faith in God never faltered.

Darrell had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, electronics, carpentry, history, and classic cars. But everyone knew him as a jack of all trades who was the first on people's list to call if anything needed repair, when something had to be built, or when a project required ingenuity. He shared his passions with his sons, serving as a mentor and friend who led by example, stood by his morals, and put God and family before all.

In 2019, Darrell retired from Entergy after a career of 35 years, most of which were spent as a metrologist at the River Bend Station in St. Francisville, La. He calibrated nuclear equipment and troubleshooted countless problems in the standards lab with his cherished late friend and co-worker, James "Jim" Caddy.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Belinda; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Nicholas and Lindsey (Bello) of Prairieville, Stephen and Samantha (Bacon) of Port Allen, and Jonathan and Rachel (Comeaux) of Arnaudville; eight grandchildren, Riley, Madelyn, Amelia, Julianna, Carson, Ainsley, and Raegan, including his soon to be born grandson, David; his parents, Leland and Betty (Riley); six siblings and their spouses, Karen and Butch Wyble, Marcus and Patricia Olivier, Elizabeth and Drake Hollier, Bryan and Tanya Olivier, Leonard and Melissa Olivier, and Mary and Craig Mathews; his wife's siblings and their spouses, Kathleen and Keith Roberts, Jenifer and Kenneth Chautin, Tony and Tara Quebedeaux, Jason Quebedeaux, Ryan Quebedeaux, and Dawn Quebedeaux; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Olivier, Stephen Olivier, Jonathan Olivier, Riley Olivier, Carson Olivier, and Bryan Olivier. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus Olivier and Leonard Olivier. Father David Allen will officiate at the funeral mass. Karen Wyble will deliver both readings. Gift bearers will be Elizabeth Hollier, and his godchildren, Mary Mathews, James Hollier, and Hayes Pontiff. A rosary will be recited by Betty Olivier and Karen Wyble.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Karen Wyble who gave Darrell and his family hope when they needed it the most; Dr. David Carver who supported Darrell and Belinda; the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute in New Orleans and St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge that provided compassionate and thoughtful care; and countless family and friends who offered comfort to Darrell and his family.
