David was born on September 15, 1955, in New Iberia. His greatest passion in life was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring grandfather. His unwavering commitment to his loved ones was evident in everything he did. Whether it was planning special gatherings or simply spending quality time together, David made it his priority to create unforgettable memories with those he held dear.

David had an innate talent for playing pool. Whether it was the distinct sound of billiard balls clashing or the sight of his steady hand guiding the cue stick with precision, David's presence in the pool room was undeniable. He found solace in cues and chalk; his eyes gleamed as he planned his next masterful shot. Through countless hours invested in perfecting his craft, David became known not only for his skill but also for his sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Being an avid fisherman, David found solace and tranquility by the water's edge. He taught his children the art of fishing, passing down knowledge and creating shared experiences that would be treasured for generations to come.

One of David's unique passions was raising chickens. His backyard was transformed into a lively sanctuary where these feathered creatures roamed freely under his watchful eye. He took great pride in tending to their well-being and nurturing them from fluffy chicks to fully grown roosters.

Another interest that captivated David's heart was the exhilarating world of horse racing. The thrill of cheering on a victorious horse as it crossed the finish line was a experience that brought him great joy.

David Joseph Bourque will be remembered as a hardworking and compassionate man who always placed his family first. His genuine love for his spouse, children, and grandchildren was evident in every aspect of his life. In their hearts, the memories they shared with David will forever remain as a testament to the beautiful bond they had with him.

He loved all of his great-grandchildren, but Lenni was his hope and the light of his eye when he was fighting his battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Bourque; sons, Jarid Hugonin (Maria) and David Bourque, II; daughter, Jamie Bourque (Jay); grandchildren, Destiny Bourque (Cole), Christopher Bourque (Morgan) , Mikayla Bourque, Johnathan Hugonin (Claire), Mildred Lee (Jay),  Jacob Hugonin and Serenity Mullen; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lee, James Lee, Georgia Lee, Lenni Brock, Julia Brock, Kori Brock, Dylan Bourque, and Isaiah Bourque; sister, Pamela Viator (Billy);  his brother, Randy Bourque (Jamie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lillian Bourque; brother, Johnny Bourque; paternal grandparents Anthony and Emerante Latiolais Bourque; and his maternal grandparents, Paulinere and Adella Miguez Bourque.
