David A. Darby

New Iberia - David A. Darby, 73, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at his home in New Iberia, Louisiana. Born on November 5, 1949, in the same close-knit community, David lived a life that exemplified compassion and dedication.

David proudly served our country in the United States Army, and made a career in the oilfield production sector. He will be fondly remembered for the profound impact he had on the lives of his loved ones.  A simple man with an immense heart, David found joy in the simplest of pleasures. He had a genuine passion for many things in life; he loved spending time honing his golfing skills on sunlit greens, engaging in intense poker tournaments that sparked exhilaration within him, and savoring delicious meals he cooked with love and creativity. These endeavors truly captured the essence of David's vibrant spirit and zest for life.

Above all else, David was a devoted family man. His unconditional love and boundless support were ever-present throughout his children's lives. He cherished every moment spent with them and understood the importance of being there when they needed him most—always just a phone call away. His selflessness knew no bounds as he relentlessly dedicated himself to creating a nurturing and loving environment for his family.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00pm on Tuesday.
