David Morgan

Loreauville - Services for David Lewis Morgan “D-Fab” will begin with a visitation Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, LA from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2pm. David was born September 28, 1986 in Pineville, Louisiana. David passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Interment will be at a later date.

With a passion for welding that started at a very young age, David somehow always had this unique and creative talent to design and build anything.  This was fueled by his “You break it, I will fix it” mentality!  His passion and hard work truly showed in the craftsmanship of his boats.  There is without a doubt a D-Fab skiff is the best around.  His love for welding and building things also heightened his passion to teach others not only how to do it, but how to be the best at it.

David loved a challenge, and don’t you dare tell him he can’t do it! He will turn that hat around and prove you wrong.  He loved kidding around, but you put a project in front of him and he took it dead serious.

He had a love for the outdoors with his family and friends.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending his days in the woods and on the water with so many, especially his son, Hunner, who he considered his best friend.  He loved his Sundays at the sandbar and riding around cruising in the boat.   David’s ability to build new friends and preserve old ones was a testament to the love for his family and his hometown.  He never met a stranger and would make friends wherever he went. He always had something to talk about and had to be the center of attention to anyone who would listen, at the same time would help anyone that needed anything. He had a big heart and a big personality, always loud and proud and everyone loved him.

David shared his life with his loving wife, Kira, of over 12 years. (444)  They were high school sweethearts and he referred to her as his best friend.   Together they built a beautiful life and shared three children, Hunner, Reese, and Kinley. His family was his world and he was theirs. He loved providing for his family and giving them everything they ever wanted.  David wanted to give them the best life.  He was always looking forward to their family fun days or just hanging out at home cooking and making memories.  The number 28 was their special family number due to their birthdays all being on the 28th of the month they were born.  His wife and children will forever remember his outgoing personality, hunting tips, sense of humor, sarcasm, and the all-around great guy that he was.

David is survived by his wife Kira; children: Hunner and Kinley; parents: David Keith and Michelle Morgan; mother: Lisa Blackwell Morgan; grandparents: Lance Prince (Ruth), Olan Coolman; brother: Josh Blackwell and wife Heather; brother: Randall Roberts; sister: Kaycee Morgan; best friend: Chad Viator and wife Kourtni, numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Reese; grandmother Linda Prince and Mary Coolman; grandfather James David Morgan; brother Nat Blackwell.
