Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Friday, May 2, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for David "Big Daddy" Clyde Thibodeaux, 63, who passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Friday at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 am on Friday.
Fr. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass with Fr. James Fallon, Fr. Ed Degeyter, and Fr. Bryce Sibley concelebrating. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Scriptures will be read by Cicely Ozen and Francene LeBlanc Gary. Gift Bearers will be Dayton LeBlanc and Amaya Simpson. Musical selections will be provided by Francis LeBlanc, Gilbert Wiltz, Robert Noel, Emmette Wiltz, and Corey Ledet.
Best known throughout the Acadiana area and to his family and many friends as Big Daddy, David was an avid sports enthusiast and staunch supporter of L.S.U. sports and all local schools throughout the Acadiana area. He was a member and coach of the Stone Junkies Softball team and A.A.U. Team Louisiana and was proudly inducted into the A.A.U. Louisiana Hall of Fame in 2005.
David was the owner of Fulfill Your Dreams, a non-profit organization and an announcer for many years on KPELs ESPN 1420 Radio, Friday Night Football, Big Time Sports Show on Sundays, and Kevin Footes Wednesday Football Show in the morning, as well as the on-line show of PrepBallers.net.
David was a member of the St. Louis Church Rosary Group, St. Paul Benevolent Society, and the Mardi Gras de Parc in Parks.
He is survived by his wife, Rose A. Thibodeaux of Breaux Bridge; his son, Derrick (Niema) LeBlanc, Sr. of Petal, MS; his daughter, Adrienne (Johnathan) Goodie of Breaux Bridge; two step brothers, Raymond Green of New Iberia and Colby Green of Dallas, TX; his uncle, Yancy Thibodeaux of Reno, NV; his brother-in-law, Nolan Hamilton, Sr. of New Iberia; his nephew and godchild, Nolan Hamilton, Jr. of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Dayton LeBlanc, Braylen Goodie, Derrick Leblanc, Jr., Carmyn Goodie, Kennedy LeBlanc, and Jalen Goodie; two nieces, Patience Thibodeaux and Setonya Mouton; nephew, Gregory Martin Thibodeaux, Jr.; great niece, Zaylen Mouton; great nephew, Zyren Lastrapes; and his aunt, Janzina Thibodeaux.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Thibodeaux; his brother, Gregory Martin Thibodeaux, Sr.; his grandparents, Joseph "Pa" and Hannah Thibodeaux; his sister, Etta Romona Hamilton; his uncle, Joseph Brod Thibodeaux; three aunts, Drusilla Vanwright, Bertha Dugas and Edith Berard; his great uncles, Theobald, Theothil, Harry, Itsville, and Simeon Thibodeaux; his nephew, Kendall Alexander; sister-in-law, Debra Thibodeaux; and his best friends, Julius Big Boy Ambroise and Betty Dauphine.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Landry, Troy Thibodeaux, Douglas Ambrose, Jerry Hebert, Tyrone Jones, Evans Von Ozen, Tony Cutright, Derrick George, Alton Ambrose, Walter Daupine, Willia Berard, Mike Berard, and Treacherous Boyance.
