A longtime area resident, Mr. Oliver was born on November 1, 1935, in Egan, to the late Theodore Oliver, Sr., and Lucy Quebodeaux. He was a 1955 graduate of St. Francis High School, in Iota, and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division, where he was a paratrooper and a medic.

Mr. Oliver was a dedicated employee at Schlumberger Well Service, retiring after 26 years of service. Always wanting to stay busy, he and his good friend, Sonny Greer, started a transportation business, after his retirement. This venture took Mr. Oliver to many different areas of our country.

In addition to his work, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. Most of all, he cherished the time that he spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife of nearly,64 years, Yvonne Harmon Oliver; daughters, Jessica Oliver Hebert (Scott), Jodie Oliver, and Jeannine Oliver Stokes; grandchildren, Alaina Hebert, Paige Hebert, Zachary Hebert (fiancé Sierra Macaluso), and Stevie Stokes (Rudy Savoy); great grandchildren, Hank Segura, Mack Segura, Sawyer Hebert, Carter Savoy, and Mason Savoy; and sisters, Susie Istre (Gaston), and Barbara Anne Hornbeck.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore “Buddy” Oliver, Jr., and a sister, Gloria Pousson.

The family would like to give special thanks to his sitter and friend, Stacy Gutierrez, of Home Instead, Dr. Jessica Petry and staff at Lafayette Internal Medicine; and to the staff of Hope Hospice, Melody Coleman, Julie Gotch, Brittany Trotter, Brandy Skidmore, and Marc Sampy.
