Dianna Copell

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Dianna Bonin Copell, 84, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Entombment will be at a later date in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Rev. Garrett Savoie will officiate.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by Deacon Josh LeBlanc, will be prayed at 11:00 am on Wednesday.

A native and lifelong of New Iberia, Mrs. Copell was born on November 25, 1941, to the late Norbert and Anna Rodriguez Bonin. A 1960 graduate of New Iberia High, she worked as a legal secretary for Bob Myers and Owen Trahan. Mrs. Copell retired from Entex/Reliant Energy after many years of service. She enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy and spending time with them.

Survivors include her sons, Gordan Copell (Stephanie) of New Iberia, Guy Copell of New Iberia, and David Copell of Broussard; grandchildren, Shawn Copell (Brandy), Ryan Copell, Tristan Copell, and Guy Winston Copell; step grandchildren, Jared Johnson, Myra Johnson, Brett Whatley and Brittany Lopez; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Winston “Sonny” Copell; grandson, Kristofer Copell; granddaughter, Dianna Copell; brothers, Kenneth Norbert Bonin, Jr., Mark Jessie Bonin, Sr., and Clarence Paul Bonin; sisters, Elizabeth Vernue Hull (Aunt Bonnie), Lula Mae Bonin Jordan, Melvola Louise Bonin, Mary Ann Moore, Mary Everna Bonin Lacy, Mildred Mary Bonin Desonier, and Doris Evelyn LeBlanc.
