Docksy G. McCoy, Jr.

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Docksy G. McCoy, Jr., who passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Entombment will be at a later date.

Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home on Friday, from 9:00 am until service time.

A long time resident of New Iberia, Mr. McCoy was born on July 30, 1937, in Edna, Texas, to the late Docksy McCoy, Sr. and Cassie Wilson McCoy. He worked for many years in the oilfield, and his hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and solving crossword and word serarch puzzles. However, his greatest love was being at home with his family. They were his world. Mr. McCoy always looked forward to Wednesday “pizza night” with all of the family, which was every Wednesday evening.

Survivors include his children, Kayla Pere (Mitch) of Youngsville, and Luke McCoy (Tammy) of Lafayette; grandchildren, Michelle McCoy Taylor (Nick), Patrick McCoy (Lori), Mark McCoy, Lanie Kipp (Austin), Taylor Pere, and Alix Pere; great grandchildren, Collin Kipp, Parker Kipp, and Emma Grace Taylor; daughter-in-law, Anita McCoy; sisters, Mary Elaine Cannon and Barbara Lambert (Jim); brothers, Patrick McCoy (Janice) and Michael McCoy (Charlene); numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Celicia “Sis” McCoy; a son, Howard Anthony McCoy; and a grandson, Dustin McCoy.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Heart of Hospice, especially his nurse, Zoe.
