It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Jerome LeVasseur, Jr., who left this world on April 11, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 18, 1954, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Donald lived a life rich in love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
A dedicated professional, Donald spent over 30 years as an Inventory Analyst in the aircraft industry with PHI, where he was not only respected, but cherished by his colleagues. Alongside his professional achievements, Donald was actively involved in his community, proudly serving as a member of the Jaycee's, the Knights of Columbus in Catahoula, and as a USSSA Umpire. His passion for sports extended beyond his professional life; he was a beloved coach for his daughter's softball teams and was known for his spirited involvement in local leagues, playing on teams such as Big Red, Hawks, Melancon Implements, Ron Guidry, and Melancon's Grocery.
He took great joy in being a grandfather to Nicholas Vemeer, II and Madeline Vemeer, and a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Donald had a special bond with his family, often sharing joyful moments centered around barbecuing, cheering for Clemson football, and celebrating the sounds of Reggae music that filled their home, especially the melodies of Bob Marley.
Throughout his life, Donald enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of festivals, notably the Festival International and the Reggae Festival, where he found joy and camaraderie. His love for the Boston Red Sox was evident in every game he watched, embodying the spirit of a true fan.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Donald Jerome LeVasseur, Jr., we remember his unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and the multitude of lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Hughes LeVasseur; daughter, Wendy Vemeer; brothers, John (Jane) LeVasseur and Jerry (Sharon) LeVasseur; sister, Jeanine (Robert) LeBlanc; and grandchildren, Nicholas Vemeer, II and Madeline Vemeer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Donald LeVasseur, Sr., and Theresa Angelette LeVasseur; and his brothers, Marty LeVasseur and Kirk "Doc" LeVasseur.
Pallbearers will be Casey Theriot, Blake LeVasseur, David LeVasseur, Jacob LeBlanc, Brandon LeVasseur and David Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Vermeer, II, The Bridge Softball Team, and Christian Robira.
