Doris Segura Sheldon

New Iberia – Private services will be held at a later date for Doris Ann Segura Sheldon, 76, who passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Doris was born on May 27, 1948, to the late John and Mae Walker Segura. She enjoyed playing the poker machine, Bourre and Thirty 31 (Cadillac). You would always hear her say “Rump Roast” whenever she would go out to win the game. Another favorite pass time of Doris’ was going to the Beer Garden with her longtime friends.

Doris’ greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, friends and loved ones. She especially loved family gatherings, and watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow up. Doris will be deeply missed by so many. May her memory be a blessing.

Survivors include her children, Barry Sheldon (Lynn), Bobby Sheldon (Allan), Lena Sheldon, and Shane Sheldon (Misty); siblings, Wayne Segura (Angela), Donald Dore’ (Deva), Bitsy Dore, Deborah Sonnier, and Donna Humphreys (Michael); grandchildren, Byrce R. Sheldon (Heather), Arabella Goddard, Scotty B. Latiolais (Teresa), Alaya M. Toups, Starla Bourque, Laura Bertrand, and Alexander Holloway; and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Sheldon; mother, Mae Walker Hayes, father, John Segura; stepfather, Charles Hayes; sister, Susan S. Broussard; brother, Perry J. Segura; grandmothers, Enola Landry and Elena Bonin Segura; grandfathers, Michel Walker and Anitus Segura; and good friend, Larry Schmidt.
