Dorothy, affectionately known to many as "Mrs. Doy", was a homemaker who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished moments spent cooking and baking, tending to her ivy plants, and listening to Zydeco music on her front porch while rocking to the beat. She dedicated her life to caring for others, often serving as a neighborhood babysitter and providing a nurturing presence for many young ones.
In death, Dorothy Lewis leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and joy that will be cherished by her children, grandchildren, sisters, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory be a blessing and may she rest in eternal peace.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacklyn Goodie and Corine Daigle; sons, Marcus (Pam) Lewis, Erving Lewis, and Clarence (Sarah) Lewis; sisters, Mary Batiste, Wilmae Abraham, Lorina Lewis, and Essie Edmond; grandchildren, Jacoby Lewis, Geoffrey Lewis, Atlanta Mouton, Teddrick Daigle, Ary Mouton, Rhonda Batiste, and Javien Williams; and 13 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Irving Lewis; parents, James and Electa John Edmond; brothers, Murphy and Leroy Edmond; sisters, Bernice Edmond and Rose Fontenette; grandchild, Teddy Daigle; great-grandchild, Keshawn Batiste; nephews, Arthur Batiste, Robert Batiste, Harold Abraham, and Darryl Edmond; and her niece, Bernice Jean.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Jones, Geoffrey Lewis, Teddrick Daigle, Javien Williams, Marcus Lewis, and Deshawn Collins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacoby Lewis, Willie Batiste, Henry Sam, Joshua Babineaux, Clarence Lewis, and Ervin Lewis.
