New Iberia - Dr Adolph Brooks Cronan, Jr died on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home in New Iberia, La. days before his 89th birthday. He was preceded in death by his father, Adolph Brooks Cronan, Sr, his mother Natalie Barthel and his sons, Adolph Brooks Cronan III and Patrick Kelly Cronan.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Alice Carter Cronan, his children Rebecca Turner, Peter Cronan, Diana LaFargue, Meredith Cronan, and Tracy Broussard, his grandchildren, Madeleine and Mary Marchand, Walter, Lucy, and Emmett Herasymiuk, Carter, Webb, and Cole Broussard and Lori LaFargue Ward.
Brooks was born in Baton Rouge, graduated from Catholic High and LSU Medical. He practiced family medicine in Sunshine, Louisiana, and was the physician for several chemical plants along the river including Syngenta and Allied Chemical. Not just a country doctor who made house calls, he was a patron of the arts and an avid collector who shared his art by donating to the LSU Museum,
Southern University, Rural Life Museum among others. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, former patients and nurses.
Visitation will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in St. Gabriel from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, on Monday, August 14, 2023, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, conducted by Father Greg Daigle, Father John Kohler and Father Charles Landry. Interment will take place in Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge.
Pallbearers are Peter Cronan, Walter Herasymiuk, Emmett Herasymiuk, Carter Broussard, Webb Broussard and Cole Broussard. Honorary pallbearers are Paul LaFargue, Bart Broussard, Jessie Turner and Jeff Padgett.
