New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Earl L. "Larry" Breaux Jr., 63, who passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, led by the Men's Singing Rosary Group. Rev. William Schambough will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette. Larry Breaux was born in New Iberia on December 27, 1952. He was a 1970 graduate of Catholic High School, where he played football. He also played and coached softball for many years. He worked for Ernest P. Breaux Electrical for 34 years. He started his career by completing a four year apprenticeship program, then went on to serve as a Journeyman Electrician and Foreman Electrician, and finished his career as the Senior Superintendent for the company. Larry was often selected as the Superintendent on many of EPB's largest and most complex projects. He also served as an instructor in Ernest P. Breaux's apprenticeship program. Larry was the "go to" guy for technical assistance and interpretation of the National Electrical Code. He was the first person in the state of Louisiana to pass the Master Electricians Test with a perfect score. Larry was a very handy man, and enjoyed carpentry and building things in his spare time. He also enjoyed watching NetFlix, expecially Sci-Fi shows, and reading. Larry is survived by his mother, Opaline "Elizabeth" Griffis Rochester; two daughters, Tonya DeRouen and husband Kerney, and Shawne Frederick and husband Michael; two step-sons, Shane Derouen and wife Mary, and Chad Derouen and wife Lita; two brothers, Louis Breaux and wife Marjie, and Paul Breaux and wife Lori; two sisters, Sandra Gatz and husband Doug, and Jennifer Comeaux and husband Troy; 11 grandchildren, Christian, Damien, and Connor Frederick, Landen DeRouen, Dexter and Jillian Derouen, Zack Mouton, James, Bobby, and Sarah Derouen, and John Broussard; and a great granddaughter, Skylar Mouton, who is due any day. Larry was preceded in death by wife, Patricia Guidry Breaux; father, Earl Lawrence Breaux, Sr.; a brother, Carl Breaux; and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Breaux. Pallbearers will be Chad Derouen, Kerney DeRouen, Michael Frederick, James Derouen, Bobby Derouen, Dexter Derouen, and Zack Mouton. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Derouen, Landen DeRouen, Connor Frederick, Louis Breaux, Christian Frederick, and Damien Frederick.
