New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Eddie J. Leger, 78, who died Thursday, November 14, 2013, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday, and also at 11:00 AM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
Born on November 24, 1934, Mr. Leger was the son of Eddie Leger, Sr., and Addie Boudreaux Leger. He enjoyed going to the car auctions, playing cards, working in his yard, and drinking coffee and visiting with everyone at Community First Bank.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nellie Prejean Leger of New Iberia; daughters, Paula Saravia and husband Gifford of New Iberia, Denise Broussard and husband Kent of New Iberia, Deborah Comeaux and husband Carl of New Iberia; 8 grandchildren, Cade Comeaux and wife Claire of New Iberia, Dylan Comeaux of Lake Charles, Jacob Comeaux and fianc Shani Bodin of New Iberia, Jordy Saravia and wife Tristin of Memphis, Lauren Saravia of New Iberia, Dustin Broussard and wife Meghan of Delcambre, Drake Broussard of New Iberia, Dominic Broussard of New Iberia; 1 great grandchild, Meyer Saravia of Memphis; nephew, David Prejean of Lafayette; and a great niece, Paylin Prejean.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Marcus Leger.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Legers grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers include Todd Bernard, and Luis Martinez.
