Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, December 22, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Edward Anthony Baudin, Sr., 75, who passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mr. Baudin was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 - 1956, and was the owner of Baudin's Sausage Kitchen for 33 years and Baudin's Superette for 27 years. He was a founding member of the Louisiana Meat Processors Association and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 578, in Breaux Bridge. Ed enjoyed hunting, wood-working, traveling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Leona Theriot Baudin, of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Keith Anthony Baudin and his wife, Anna, of Parks, and Edward Anthony "Jack" Baudin, Jr. and his wife, Stacey, of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Vickie B. Pennise and her husband, Ronald, of Moore, South Carolina, Peggy Baudin and her companion, Joseph Peterson, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Tonie B. Papadakes and her husband, Charles, of Breaux Bridge; one sister, Theresa Guidry, of Breaux Bridge; four step sisters, Joanne Polite, Jean Melancon, Peggy Theriot, and Vicci Thibodeaux, all of Breaux Bridge; eight grandchildren, Alicia P. Watson and her husband, Derek, Brad, Chad and Aaron Baudin, Sarah and Ethan Papadakes, and Adam and Evan Baudin; and two great grandchildren, Devon Watson and Ashlyn Baudin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Osmer and Alisia Boyer Baudin; and his step mother, Clothilde H. Baudin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Pennise, Charles Papadakes, Chad, Brad, and Aaron Baudin, and Joseph Peterson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Papadakes, Adam and Evan Baudin, and Devon Watson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Drs. Warren Degatur and Edward Lyons, for the many years of dedicated care, as well as the staff of St. Martin Hospital, Concepts of Care, and Tilly Duplechain, the family caretaker.
