New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Elie Crochet, 90, who died Friday, October 18, 2013, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
Born on May 6, 1923, Mr. Crochet worked as a welder for New Iberia Tractor and Implement for 35 years. He enjoyed building things for his wife and helping others. His hobbies included playing the guitar, singing, watching wrestling, western movies, television evangelists, but most of all he especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Edmae Romero Crochet of New Iberia; children, Daniel Crochet and wife Cathy, Mary Rogers, Deanna Champagne and husband Gus, Delores Clark and husband Ed, Barbara Peltier, Brenda Ransonet and husband Bruce all of New Iberia; brothers, Paul Crochet and wife Audry of Loreauville, Herman Crochet of Franklin; sisters, Mary Theriot and husband Al of Franklin, Annie Mae Breaux of Church Point, Elizabeth Younger and husband Floyd of St. Francisville.
Mr. Crochet is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Laurie, Jessie Sr., Ray, Scottie, Mark, Amy, Aaron, Jessica, Chance, Chantel, Telum, Danielle, Nicholas, Priscilla, Ashley, Sean, Brian; 27 great grandchildren, Raven, Valerie, Rayward Jr., Maureen, Jessie Jr., Jerry James, Douglas, Jerry Michael, Joey, Tyler, Robert, Ramsey, Robin, Kevin, Dixie, Elmarie, Trent, Jasmine, Mariah, Mika, Caytlyn, Peyton, Holdan, Cimi, Spencer, Mason, Carson; 10 great great grandchildren, Andrera, Cody Jr., Kage, Kayden, Austin, Hudson, Jabari, Logan, Ethen, and Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Elizabeth Dupuis Crochet; 2 sisters, Shirley Migues, Elvidge Crochet; 4 brothers, Micky Crochet, Murphy Crochet, Edward Crochet, Emmett Crochet; a grandson, Sonny Rogers; a granddaughter, Kitty Rogers; and a son-in-law, Jerry Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Rayward Dugas, Jr., Chance Crochet, Tyler Champagne, Nicholas Peltier, Aaron Comeaux, Sean Ransonet, Scottie Champagne, and Brian Ransonet.
Honorary pallbearers include Mark Comeaux, Ray Champagne, Robert Rivers, Ramsey Rivers, Mika Rivers, and Cody Hebert, Jr.
