Elise Templeman

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Elise Barras Oubre Templeman, 95, who passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at St. Martinville Nursing Home. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Monsignor Douglas Courville will conduct the services. Elise was born in St. Martinville, Louisiana. She graduated from Convent of Mercy School in St. Martinville. On January 22, 2011, the Good Lord called Elise Barras Oubre Templeman of St. Martinville, Louisiana to her just rewards and the reunion with her parents and siblings after 95 years. Elise was one of the last of the 'Grand Old Ladies' of her generation in St. Martinville. She had retired from BellSouth with status of Pioneer. Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews, including Percy Joseph Bordelon of Orange, Texas, Wayne Bienvenu of Covington, LA, Carolyn Bienvenu Signorelli of St. Martinville, and her great niece and goddaughter, Barbara Bordelon of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Alice Bernice Barras; her husbands, Ulysse Oubre and Louis Templeman; her sisters, Madeline B. Fuselier, Beatrice B. Bordelon, Onysiphor Barras; and her brothers, Father Gabriel Barras, S.J., Jerome Barras, Joseph Barras, Lawrence Barras and Norbert Barras. She will be missed by her housekeeper and dear friend of many years, Dorothy Robertson; and her caregiver, Lori Schiesser. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to The Trust Fund of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church or St. Michael Cemetery and Mausoleum Endowment Fund.
