Ella Mae Serrette

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Ella Mae Serrette, 66, who passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Monday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Monday by Krystal Theriot.

Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Courtney Prejean and My Ratchatajirayothin. Gift bearers will be Ashlin Hebert and Landon Prejean.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.

Ella Mae Serrette was a beloved member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, she leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. With an infectious smile and a heart full of generosity, Ella was always there for those in need, offering support, kindness, and compassion wherever she went and to whomever she encountered with. She truly did not know a stranger and would probably find out how everyone was related to her.

One of Ella's greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Equal to her daughter, they were everything to her - the light that shone brightly in her world. Nothing made her smile brighter than being in their presence.

She loved shopping and going to garage sales. Ella also enjoyed going to the movies and cooking. Her love for socializing extended to Facebook, she found joy in connecting with family and friends, old and new. She visited the Chapel often to light a candle and prayed for everyone in need.  She was a true gem.

Ella was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael Serrette; daughter, Misty Lynn Hebert (Scott); grandchildren, Courtney (Trevor), My, Jacob, Jessica, Ashlin, Landon, and Alivia; great grandchildren, Graham, Jacque, and Wes; and her sisters, Gloria Degeyter, Margaret Boudreaux, and Jeanette Guidry.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Garland Guidry and Theresa Castania Guidry; and her brothers, Renee Guidry and David Guidry.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hebert, Jacob Prejean, Landon Prejean, Trevor Hamlett, Christopher Degeyter Jr, and Randy LeBlanc.

Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Degeyter Sr, Troy Guidry, and Cody Hebert.
