Elmer "Butch" Thomas

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am  on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, for Elmer “Butch” Thomas, 73, who passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 in Lafayette.

Rev. Nathan Comeaux will be the Celebrant.

Entombment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.   

A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.

A longtime resident of New Iberia, Elmer Arthur Charles “Butch” Thomas was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 3, 1949 to the late Claire Thomas and Nelian Pearl DeBiasi Thomas. He was a 1968 graduate of NISH, then attended trade school, and worked as an Electrician. An avid outdoorsman, Butch loved hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and tinkering in his shop, but what he cherished most was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Pansy Jacob Thomas; three children, Michael Vincent Thomas (fiancée Laci), Julie Clifton (Brad), and Brock Matthew Thomas (Brandy); a sister, JoAnne Thomas LeBlanc (Bryan); and eight grandchildren, Alyssa Nicole Thomas, Sadie Ann Thomas, Amelie Claire Clifton, Adeline Grace Clifton, Abigail Kate Clifton, Madison Marie Thomas, Maci Louise Thomas, and Gauge Arthur Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Nelian DeBiasi Thomas.

Pallbearers are Michael Thomas, Brock Thomas, Bryan LeBlanc, Brad Clifton, and Malcolm Migues.

Honorary pallbearer is Gauge Thomas.
