Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, on Monday, May 12, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Emelianne Usie Guidry, 91, who passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 1:30 pm on Monday.
A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am on Monday. Rev. Donald Pelous will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Melvin Guidry and Alfred Guidry. Gift Bearers will be Katherine Guidry and Cabrina Guidry.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Guidry, a devout Catholic, was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and member of the Ladies Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the block rosary group, and a faithful adorer in the St. Bernard Chapel of Perpetual Adoration since its inception in 1984. As well as being actively involved in her church parish, she and her late husband, David, were as equally involved with the American Legion Post in Breaux Bridge for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and held numerous officer positions within the organization.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Guidry of Breaux Bridge, Alfred "Fred" Guidry and wife, Katherine, of Breaux Bridge, and Melvin "Stretch" Guidry and wife, Cabrina, of Cecilia; her brother, Allen Usie of Breaux Bridge; three grandchildren, Gavin David Guidry and wife, Aya, Rainey Elaine Guidry, and Trace David Guidry; and two great grandchildren, Chloe and Chase Guidry.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, David Paul Guidry; her parents, Joseph A. and Felicienne Thibodeaux Usie; and her sister, Rena U. Sonnier.
Pallbearers will be Roger Guidry, Alfred Guidry, Melvin Guidry, Trace David Guidry, Kelly Usie, and Wayne Sonnier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin David Guidry and Tom Guidry.
Her family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to her Nurse, Debbie, and C.N.A., Caroline, for the wonderful care given to her during her time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
