Emmett Charles

July 15, 1919 — November 10, 2013

St. Martinville A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Mallalieu United Methodist Church in St. Martinville, for Emmett Charles, 94, who passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Mallalieu United Methodist Church from 8:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday. Pastor Robert Johnson will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Mallalieu United Methodist Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Charles was a veteran of World War II, having honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a faithful member of Mallalieu United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir for many years. He is survived by three daughters, Elaine C. (Franklin) Wiltz and Jeanette C. (Melvin) Johnson, all of St. Martinville, and Vanessa (Benjamin) Grimm of Jeanerette; two sons, Clyde (Catherine) Charles and Clegges Charles, all of St. Martinville; his sister, Mabel Bishop; 10 grandchildren and18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife, Edna Jean Batiste Charles; his parents, John and Daisy Tyler Charles; his daughter, Germaine Charles; three brothers, Horace, Alexander and Warren Charles; and two sisters, Hilda Alexander and Sadie Ambroise. The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice, especially, Christy and Callie. Pellerin Funeral Home, (337.332.2111),is in charge of arrangements.
