New Iberia - Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia for Marie Estelle Hitter Williams, 88, of New Iberia, who passed away on January 4, 2014 at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder will conduct the services. Reading the scriptures will be her grandchildren.
Inurnment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 and continue at 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Estelle was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in New Iberia and went on to further her education at Hotel Dieu Nursing School in New Orleans, LA. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and playing bridge. She taught and enjoyed line dancing, as well as making and teaching arts and crafts. Estelle designed, made, and sold pepper earrings for the Tabasco gift shop.
Estelle also loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children - Christine Williams of New Orleans, LA, Patricia Begley and her husband, Douglas of Sunset, LA, Steven Williams and his wife, Thaida of New Braunfels, TX, Adell Williams and her fiance, Simon Baxter of Baton Rouge, LA, Michael Williams of Calexico, CA, and Maria Boyd and her husband, Joel of Dothan, AL; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Williams; her father, Alphonse Hitter; her mother, Cora Oliver Laperouse; her siblings, Lillian Lester, Jeanne Renoudet, Oneida Judice, Oliver Mae Hitter, Alphonse Edmond Brother Pete Hitter, and Charles Hitter; her great-grandchild, Jordyn Estelle Bajat.
