Parks - Funeral Service will be held at 10 am, on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Evelyn Ledet Berard, 83, who passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, from 7:45 am until 9:45 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9 am on Saturday. Rev. Donovan Labbe will officiate at the Funeral Service. Readers will be Jackie Young and Kathleen Filer. Gift Bearers will be Mary Virginia Charles, Merna Rabeaux, and Lillie Mae Ledet. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Evelyn was affectionately known by many as their Angel. To her family she was known as Grand Maw, Maw Maw, and Taunte Taunte. She never met a stranger and was loved by all. Evelyn was a giving person and known for her generosity; no one could go to her home and leave empty handed. Her home was always open and unlocked for all. She enjoyed cooking and preparing a meal that gave all a sense of comfort, love, and appreciation. She was a member of St. Paul Benevolent Society and St. Louis Ladies Altar Society. She raised grandchildren, Chad, Lance, and Brandon as her own and provided the same care to many children in her community. Evelyn will be featured in a documentary, Journey to the Promise Land. It will be featured on Channel 10, Friday, October 11, 2013. She is survived by her son, Earl Joseph "Stretch" (Mary Dell) Berard of Parks; her brothers, Harry (Lena) Ledet of Baton Rouge and Paul Ledet of Parks; her sisters, Annabel Zenon of Lafayette and Annette Chavis of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Megan Rachelle Berard of Parks, Chad Everett (Meredith) Nora of Lafayette, Lance Jerrit (Tiffany) Nora of Parks, and Brandon Michael (Raymonette) Nora of Parks; and her great-grandchildren, Chelsea Anne Nora of Lafayette, Zachary James Nora of Lafayette, Dominic George Nora of Parks, Bryant James Nora of Parks, and Nikki Landry of Parks. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Ledet, Sr.; her mother, Electa Savoy Ledet; her husband, Joseph Kennedy Berard; her brothers, Joseph Ledet, Robert Ledet, Jr., George Ledet, Wilbert Ledet, Sr., Gabriel Ledet, and Howard Ledet, Sr.; and her sisters, Theresa Benjamin, Lillian Skipper, Margaret Minor, Electa Potier, Leona James, and Eunice Ledet. Pallbearers will be Chad Everett Nora, Lance Jerrit Nora, Brandon Michael Nora, Vincent Wiltz, Howard Ledet, Jr., Floyd Chavis, Francis "Rudy" Zenon, Jason Ledet.
