Evelyn Marie Theriot

New Iberia – Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Holy Family Cemetery, for Evelyn Marie Theriot, 78, who passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Deacon Josh LeBlanc will officiate.

A resident of New Iberia, Ms. Theriot was born on September 1, 1948, to the late Alexandre Theriot, Sr. and Evelyn Marie Dugas Theriot. She was a retired educator, having taught school for St. Martin Parish School Board and the Iberia Parish School Board. Ms. Theriot’s faith was deeply important and comforting to her. “Mimi” was a hoot. She was nothing short of amazing and intelligent. She loved talking, but more than anything, she loved laughing with her family. The joy that her grandkids brought her was immeasurable. An avid reader, Ms. Theriot also loved art and painting.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Braud (Vicki); grandchildren, Chandler Rivers (Harley) and Lee Braud (Ty “Claude”); sisters, Gayle Dugas (Huey) and Connie Theriot.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nita McNair and Linda Laperouse; and a brother, Alexandre Theriot, Jr.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Ms. Theriot’s special friends and caregivers Sean Dronet, Jamie Mazerole and Shelby, Mr. Arthur, and Ms. Pendaz.
