A resident of New Iberia, Evelyn Boudreaux Melancon was born in Franklin, Louisiana on June 9, 1934, to the late John C. Boudreaux, Sr. and Adele Borel Boudreaux. She and her husband, Patrick owned and operated Melancon Plumbing for many years, and Evelyn served as the bookkeeper.

An avid reader and a passionate golf enthusiast, Evelyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Many delightful afternoons were spent on the golf course with Patrick. Her adventurous spirit took her and her family to magical places like Disneyworld, where memories were created amidst laughter and joy. Evelyn's proudest accomplishments lay within the warmth of her home and the love she nurtured in her family. An excellent cook, she shared countless Sunday meals, creating cherished memories.

Evelyn was especially proud of her grandchildren, who held a cherished place in her heart. Their smiles brought her joy, serving as a constant reminder of the love she cultivated in her family. She had a passion for life that extended to her favorite sports teams—the Houston Astros, UL Football, and the New Orleans Saints, whom Evelyn cheered on enthusiastically. She will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Melancon is survived by daughter, Nancy Melancon Meyers (Jesse); grandchildren, Casey Boudreaux (Elizabeth), Meghan Boudreaux (Kathryn), and Nicholas Meyers (Ashleigh); and great-grandchildren, Jenson Boudreaux, Asher Armand, Roger Theodore “R.T.” Meyers, and Paxton, who is due in August.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Patrick Joseph Melancon; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia “Trisha” and Charles “Chuck” Boudreaux; and siblings, Wilmer Boudreaux, Valerie Derouen, and Doris Leleux.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Meyers, Casey Boudreaux, Meghan Boudreaux, Carbet Meyers, Nicholas Meyers and Wayne Louviere, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Jenson Boudreaux, Asher Armand, R.T. Meyers, and Carl Deslatte.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Compassus Hospice, Camelot of Broussard, and A Care Partner for extraordinary care and compassion; to Regina LaBiche, Patricia Leger and Raevin Percle for all of the love and support; and to Rev. Keith Landry for Last Rites and for spending time with the family.

As we remember Evelyn, we honor a woman whose love and laughter have touched many lives. Her spirit will forever live on in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
