New Iberia Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Assembly Christian Center in New Iberia, for Felipe C. Davila, Jr., 54, who died on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in New Iberia.
Private interment will be at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 9:15 AM.
Felipe was born on December 15, 1958 in McAllen, Texas, and was the son of Felipe C. Davila, Sr. and Carmen Cisneros Davila. He was a graduate of El Monte High School in California, the Latin American Bible Institute, and the Houston Baptist University. Pastor Felipe founded the first Spanish church in Baton Rouge, El Aposento Alto, and then pastored at Templo Gethsemani in Rosenberg, Texas for seven years. He also founded and is the pastor of El Faro at Assembly Christian Center in New Iberia.
Survivors include his wife, Yolanda Cruz Davila of New Iberia; mother, Carmen Cisneros Davila of Baton Rouge; brothers, Guillermo Bill Davila and wife Esther of Baton Rouge, Ernesto Davila of Spring, LA, Rey Davila and wife Lynn of Watson, LA, Angel Davila and wife Linda of Baton Rouge; sister, Maria Zito and husband Stephen of Port Allen; Thoon Chalee of Lafayette who was like a son to him; and numerous young people in the Baton Rouge area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felipe Davila, Sr.; a brother, Ricardo Davila; and a sister, Dorothy Willis Brown.
Pallbearers will be, Thoon Chalee, Phil Sonnier, Armando Cruz, Josh Davila, Ed Zamora, Joel Escobar, Julio Hernandez and Joseph Fino.
