Floyd Lee Poche

Floyd Lee Poche was born and raised in the Village of Poche Bridge and never left. He devoted his life to the service of others which led to the remarkable success of his business, Poche's Market, Restaurant and Smokehouse.

Floyd is a graduate of Breaux Bridge High School (1970), joined the Louisiana National Guard shortly after and then began working at L.A. Frey & Sons for a few years before purchasing Poche's Market and Restaurant from his father. Floyd turned a weekend Boudin and Barbeque spot into a household name and earned recognition nationwide. He always remained true to his philosophy of providing quality food at fair prices and serving the community he loved. On any given day he would be heard singing from the front counters. He loved and respected each and every one of his employees and would be found working right alongside them until the job was done. He was very passionate in his belief that everyone deserved an opportunity to be somebody. Helping people was his earthly mission.

Although work was truly a hobby for him, he was famously known for being at work at 3:30 AM, he enjoyed going to New Orleans Saints Football Games with his son and ending those days with a meal at his daughter's house. He was an avid supporter of all High School Sports programs in the Parish and enjoyed chiming in on "Big Time Sports Talk" on Sundays. He was the best Waterboy the Teurlings High School Volleyball Team ever had.

He loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends fiercely; quality time with them often included lots of stirred pots. He traveled the world with his late wife-Karen and was always ready to hop on a flight to Las Vegas. He enjoyed eating at restaurants, often thinking of ways he could make something "better" and looked forward to his Friday night dinners with his best friends, Mary Foss and Alaina Joubert.

He is survived by his Son, Scotty Poche (Chantel) and Daughter, Rebekah Poche Guidry (Blaise). Grandchildren: Kenley and Jase Poche and Bennett Guidry. Brother: Sidney Poche (Cindy) and Sisters: Virdy Poche, Alene Poche and Martha Phares (Doug). Nieces and Nephews. Countless employees that he loved so dearly.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years, Karen Hebert Poche and daughter Desiree Michelle Poche. Brothers: Larry Poche and Felton "Poncho" Poche. Parents, Lug "Do" Poche and Eleanor Chapman Poche. Employees that he loved so dearly.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his care teams, especially Dr. Mary Hobbs-Maluccio, Dr. Joseph Brierre, Amanda Hayes, NP, the Hospice of Acadiana team, particularly his wonderful nurse, Mackenzie. We are deeply grateful to everyone who devoted their time, compassion, and care to him, and to those who lifted our family up in prayer and supported us during this difficult time.

To the employees and customers of Poche's who offered prayers, support, and expressed genuine concern during this time, may God bless you in all of the ways that you have blessed our Family. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.

In honor of a life filled with love, joy, and treasured memories, a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Poche Bridge Country Club. Interment will follow at a later date.
