Frances was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, whose life was defined by her deep love of her family, her gift of music, and above all, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She grew up in Pointe á la Hache, Louisiana, where some of her fondest memories were made fishing, shrimping, and crabbing alongside her father. Frances had a lifelong passion for music and a beautiful voice.
In her younger years, she sang country music with her husband, William "Billy" Ahysen. Together, they recorded albums and performed throughout their musical journey, including performances at the Grand Ole Opry. She had the incredible opportunity to open for some of country music's most beloved artists, including Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Hank Williams Jr. As the years passed, Frances' music took on an even deeper meaning. Her voice transitioned from country music to Gospel, becoming a beautiful way for her to share her love of Jesus and her testimony to others. She faithfully sang in Baptist churches and wrote several heartfelt songs dedicated to her Lord and Savior. Her music was not simply something she performed, but a reflection of her faith and a gift she was blessed to share. Frances spent many years caring for others, including working as a caretaker for elderly women and managing several beauty pageants. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and hoped that each of them would come to know Christ.
She is survived by siblings, Etienne "Sonny" Pellegal Jr. and Darlene Pellegal; children, Terrie Reagle (Mike) and Richard "Rick" Ahysen Sr. (Nita); son-in-law, Johnny Giles Sr.; eight grandchildren, Travis Faircloth, Tasha Lamson (Garrett), Tinka Barrios (August), Johnny Giles Jr. (Leah), Teela Meche (Trey), David Giles (Johnette), Ricky Ahysen Jr. (Courtney), and Shaine Ahysen (Danielle); twenty-four great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Billy" Ahysen; her parents, Etienne Pellegal and Josephine Lachute Pellegal; her siblings, Cecilia Gros, Delores Pellegal, and Johnny Pellegal; her daughter, Deneen Giles; and her son-in-law, Timothy Faircloth.
Though her voice may be silent here on earth, the songs she sang and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace - perhaps enjoying a well-deserved Coca-Cola in heaven. Rest peacefully, sweet Frances. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
