Freda Gallagher Thibodeaux

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, January 31, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Freda Gallagher Thibodeaux, who passed away peacefully in her home amid her family on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 82 years of life.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 9:00 am until 9:30 am. 

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Sunday by Horace Calais.

Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by Deacon Ken Soignier. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.

A native of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and a lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge and Poche Bridge, Lousiana. Freda was a life long sports fan of the Cecilia High School Bulldogs, the University of Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and the LSU Fighting Tigers. She loved gardening and was an extraordinary Cajun cook and baker of renown. No one could pass up her gumbo, etouffee, cabbage rolls, syrup cake or banana bread. Freda could prepare any animal presented to her in a manner fit for a king. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, great aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

 She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Norris Thibodeaux; son, Travles "TJ" Joseph Thibodeaux (Brunella); daughter, Tina Marie Thibodeaux Wyble; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren (a ninth on the way); brothers, Francis "Boy" Gallagher and Alfred Gallagher (Melba); and sisters, Bobbie G. Granger and Aline G. Hesterly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Laura Bergeron Gallagher; brother, Jimmy Gallagher; and sister, Lena G. Martin. 

Pallbearers will be Clyde "CJ" Wyble, Zach Wyble, Dallas Granger, Jody Johnson, LeRoy Louviere and Wayne Aucoin.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jayce Wyble.
