New Iberia – Memorial Services will be held for the family at a later date for Freddie Wayne Dorris, 70, who died on Monday, December 15, 2025, in New Iberia.
Fred worked as a skilled gas compression mechanic, known for his strong worth ethic and attention to detail. He took pride in keeping equipment running safely and reliably. He believed in doing things the right way. There were no shortcuts. He earned the respect of his colleagues and was a valued coworker and trusted teammate known for his technical skill and dedication. While he worked as a Shop Foreman and then later retired as a Quality Assurance Manager, he will always be remembered as the best gas compression mechanic in the country.
Above all, Freddie took great pride in being a devoted provider for his family, working tirelessly to ensure they were well cared for and supported. A private person at heart, he cherished family times spent at the pool, Arkansas road trips, Taco Tuesdays, and being Poppy. Though deeply missed, we take comfort in the blessed assurance that we will see him again in heaven.
Freddie is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan Cannon Dorris; daughters, Jessica Leleux (Troy), and Holly Dorris LeJeune; grandchildren, Andrew Leleux, Amelia Leleux, Lillian Leleux, Luke Leleux, and Adalyn LeJeune; and sister, Ann Cedatol.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Opal Freeland Dorris, Sr.; siblings, Danny Dorris, Linda York, and Stephen Dorris.
