Frederick Henry DeCourt

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Frederick H. DeCourt, Sr. at 2:00 PM Monday, February 24, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Rev. Steve LeBlanc will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM. A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. DeCourt passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the age of 77. Mr. DeCourt was a 1953 graduate of St. Peters college, and USL in 1957, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Cleco for 25 years during which time he also founded Associated Engineers and Architects, Inc., and Iberia Building Systems, Inc. After leaving Cleco Mr. DeCourt ran his business along with his son Freddie for over 40 years. He designed / built many projects throughout Acadian. Mr. DeCourt achieved the rank of Master Sergeant as a marine reservist serving for 12 years. Mr. DeCourt is survived by his wife of 57 years Ruth Segura DeCourt of New Iberia, one daughter Renee DeCourt Love and husband Dean Love, sons Freddie DeCourt and wife Janita Miller DeCourt, David DeCourt and wife Monique Reed DeCourt. Eight grandchildren, Alexander Covington, Christina Covington Seiley, husband Brandon, Hampton Covington, Patrick Covington, Natalie DeCourt, Peyton Reed, Dawson DeCourt, and Annie Ruth DeCourt, three great grandchildren Zackary Covington, Cael Seiley, and Liam Seiley. He was preceded in death by his parents Laurent and Mae Davis DeCourt. Serving as pallbearers are Alexander Covington, Hampton Covington, Patrick Covington, Dean Love, Brandon Seiley and Stephen Palumbo. Honorary pallbearers include Peyton Reed and Dawson DeCourt.
