Gary James
Darby
Jan 27, 1953 — Jun 18, 2026
Arnaudville - Gary James Darby, 73, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Carpenter House.
During his high school years, Gary earned the nickname "Hots" as a talented and well-known basketball player whose skill and determination on the court left a lasting impression on teammates, friends, and fans alike. Those who knew him then never forgot the energy and spirit he brought to the game.
Gary had a lifelong love for antique hot rod cars, motorcycles, and rock 'n' roll music. He could often be found admiring a classic car, working on a motorcycle, or enjoying the music that brought him so much joy. His appreciation for craftsmanship and mechanical design was evident in everything he did.
Gifted with an exceptional mechanical ability, Gary was known for being able to fix just about anything. He was naturally mechanically inclined and enjoyed working with his hands, solving problems, and helping others with repairs whenever he could. Friends and family often turned to him for advice because they knew he had the knowledge and determination to get the job done.
Above all, Gary will be remembered for the memories he created, the friendships he cherished, and the impact he made on the lives of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy Darby (Tyra); his grandson, Jackson Darby; and his sister, Diane Bergeron.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Genvieve Tauzin Darby.
Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
