Gayle 'GAB' "GAB" Adam Blanchard

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge, for Gayle Adam "GAB" Blanchard, 73, who passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, in Breaux Bridge. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Blanchard was a dedicated educator for 44 years as a Teacher, Supervisor, and Director with the St. Martin Parish School Board and retired in 2011. He was an Alderman for the City of Breaux Bridge, and a founding member of Attakapas Hunting Club in Butte La Rose. He is survived by his loving spouse of 24 years Philippa Whipp Blanchard; his sons, Byron Blanchard and wife Donna and Kevin Blanchard and wife Melissa, all of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Jessalyn Newton and husband Chad; his sister, Cheryl Courville and husband Alvin of Breaux Bridge; and his grandchildren, Blakeley, Laural, Avery, and Aaron Blanchard. He was preceded in death by father, Alfred "Bee Bee" Blanchard; his mother, Lillian H. Blanchard; and his brothers, Alfred "Joe" Blanchard, Jr., Richard "Dickie" Blanchard, and Keith Blanchard. Pallbearers will be Alvin Courville, Richard Owens, Stewart Vandenburg, Charley Whipp, John Dever, and James Hamilton, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Attakapas Hunting Club. His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to his caretakers, Anita Carter and Kelly Pierson.
