St. Martinville - A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Gaylon Louis Champagne, 63, who passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 1:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
Rev. Rusty Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Reading the scriptures for the service will be Tonya Duplantis and Marrissa Lajaunie. Gift bearers will be McKenzie and Luci Westcott. Music will be provided by Pat Melancon.
Gaylon was born on September 11, 1950, living in St. Martinville most of his life. He ran St. Martin Canal for over 25 years. He was a car enthusiast and in his spare time loved remodeling anything! He also was an excellent carpenter.
He was a veteran having served 4 years in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pam Westcott Champagne of St. Martinville; his mother, Doris Hulin Broussard; his sons, Shannon (Jessica Kidder Champagne) Champagne of Arnaudville and Chase (Christie Bourque Champange) Champagne of St. Martinville; his brother, Murphy (Jill) Champagne; his sisters, Cynthia (Dave) Theriot, Paula (Kenneth) Hebert and Dora (Michael) Dewey; his grandchildren, Connor, Charlee and Dre Champagne.
He is preceded in death by his father, Murphy Champagne and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Lucette Hulin.
Pallbearers will be Francis Bourque, Chester Bergeron, Al Landry, Dave Theriot, Gus Westcott and Clayt Hulin.
