Georgette Bernis Louviere

Catahoula - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on September 18, 2026 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula for Georgette Bernis Louviere, 85, who passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, at her residence.

A visitation will take place at Dion Hall on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 7:00 am until the 10:30 am.

A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Friday.

Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Reader will be Brother Gabriel. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Georgette, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, was born on May 27, 1941, in St. Martinville, Louisiana. Georgette led a life dedicated to family, service, and community.

Georgette devoted over 50 years to her banking career, culminating in her 20 years as a Branch Manager at Advancial Credit Union, where her commitment to continuous education and growth in the banking industry earned her respect and admiration from colleagues and customers alike. Her work ethic and selflessness were hallmarks of her character, qualities that she carried into every aspect of her life.

Raised on a farm, Georgette developed a profound love for animals, including her cherished chickens and ponies. Rooted in a love of nature and the values of her upbringing, she carried a gentle and nurturing spirit throughout her life, especially in the love and devotion she gave to her family.

Georgette was not only a remarkable professional, but also a treasured friend who always put others before herself.

As we say goodbye to a remarkable and generous woman, we find comfort in the cherished memories she leaves behind and in knowing that her love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Gary Joseph Louviere; sons, Troy Louviere (Karen), Gregg Louviere (Lori), Hoyt Louviere (Carrie) and Russ Louviere (Crystal); daughter, Rae Hebert (Paul); brother, Willie Bernis, Jr. (Priscilla); 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Todd Gerard Louviere; infant son, Craig Louviere; parents, Willie Bernis and Olive Latiolais Bernis; brothers, Brannon Bernis and Donald Bernis; and sister, Jeannette Bernis.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her sitters, Celeste Bourque and Claudette Jacobs, for the compassionate care and attention given to Georgette, and also special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, Mackenzi and Jamie, and to Wendy Fuselier, PA-C, her primary care physician.
