New Iberia Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Gerald Romero, 74, who died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Msgr. Richard Greene will officiate. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero was born on April 10, 1940 to Adam and Gladys Toucheque Romero. He was a self employed carpenter, constructing and remodeling homes, and then later working has a hot shot driver. His hobbies included woodworking, and studying The Bible. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dianna Touchet Romero of New Iberia; children, Angie Romero Oubre and husband Scot of Sulphur, Todd Romero of New Iberia; brother, Ricky Romero and wife Mona of New Iberia; sisters, Jessie Comeaux of New Iberia, Olga Sis Champagne and husband Les of New Iberia, Barbara Derouen and husband Jay of New Iberia, Susie Pratt and husband Lane of St. Martinville, Virgie McBride and husband Charlie of New Iberia, Fran Morel of New Iberia; 3 grandchildren, Kacie Oubre of Sulphur, Joshua Oubre and wife Monique of Breaux Bridge, Kaylan Nolan and husband Danny of Alexandria; 6 great grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan, Madison, Bailey, Bryce, Alissa; several nieces and nephews; and DeWayne Scott of Seattle, Washington who was like a son to Mr. Romero. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Romero, and a sister, Helen Judy Langlinais.
